Fire Door Remedial Works

The Fire Safety Team at Stadium Support Services were instructed to carry out fire door remedial works to ensure all doors met current fire safety regulations. The project involved inspecting, repairing and adjusting fire doors to address defects such as damaged leaves, faulty seals, excessive gaps, non-compliant glazing and defective ironmongery.

The Challenge

Several doors had deteriorated since the previous review, and the new building layout made access and movement across the site challenging. 

Works needed to be completed efficiently while maintaining safety and minimising disruption for building occupants. 

Scope of Work
  • Installation of compliant signage and hardware

  • Verification of certification and compliant installation of all components

  • Repainting of frames and French polish applied to specialist colour doors

  • Final compliance re-inspection and client handover

The Solution

Following a full inspection, all identified defects were addressed through targeted remedial works. This included adjusting and repairing door leaves and frames, replacing missing or defective intumescent and smoke seals, re-hanging doors to achieve correct tolerances and self-closing action, and installing compliant signage and ironmongery.
All materials were fire-rated and installed in accordance with manufacturer guidance and relevant British Standards, including BS 8214. Upon completion, all doors were re-inspected to verify full compliance and operational performance. Door frames were repainted, and specialist doors received a French polish finish.
