Retail Cleaning – RFU Stores

Keeping Official Merchandise Spick & Span

Official merchandise stores are an essential business component of any stadium, they need to be routinely cleaned and maintained to remain appealing to the paying public.

The Challenge:

With limited turnaround time and continuously changing trading hours, Stadium Support Services have been supplying cleaners to work out of hours at various merchandise stores with most prestigious being at the superstore at Twickenham Stadium

The Solution:

Working closely with the stadium shop and retail managers Stadium Support Services created a year ahead cleaning planner which sets aside periods in which deep cleans and periodical works would be undertaken.  This flexible planner allowed all parties to have a clear idea of the year ahead and with the flexibility to delay or bring forward works within the schedule.

The Outcome:

Armed with specialist cleaning equipment and chemicals such as carpet cleaners, gum-wands and graffiti removing chemicals we work closely with the stadium to ensure the shop continuously looks its best to encourage sales and customer footfall.

Health & Safety Compliance – Olympic Park Stadium

Ramping up Health & Safety

With thousands of spectators and visitors entering our venues, health and safety (H&S) as well as accessibility is always at the forefront of Stadium Support Services priorities.

The Challenge:

Stadium Support Services was called to address a breach of health and safety at the Olympic Park Stadium. A temporary structure had been erected with ramps that did not meet strict H&S guidelines and as such was deemed not fit for purpose. Furthermore, with just 24 hours before the first Rugby World cup match to be played at the venue our team had to act fast to find a solution.

The Solution:

Once the problem was identified our H&S officer was able to assess the drop between the temporary structure and the concourse.  From this they were able to calculate the precise angle of the ramp to provide both the optimum use of space and the approved gradient suitable.

The Outcome:

Materials and quantities were ordered and collected on a same day order and a team of six skilled carpenters started construction of the 80 square metre ramps complete with anti-slip flooring and handrails, completing the job in time for the evening kick-off.

Painting & Decorating – Rugby World Cup

Painting to perfection

Corporate hospitality plays such a significant part in attracting revenue for every stadium. It is therefore imperative those paying for the premium experience, experience a premium environment.

The Challenge:

Twenty three days to renovate all the corporate boxes located in the Upper West Stand of Twickenham Stadium, including all corridors, ceilings and lift lobby areas – all before the first kick off of the Rugby World Cup 2015.

Combine that with access restrictions and complex fire retardant wood surfaces to work with, Stadium Support Services were willing to take on a project no other company would attempt.

The Solution:

A huge team effort meant multiple teams of painters working around the clock to decorate the hospitality boxes, kitchens, corridors and lift lobby’s in time for the tournament.

The Outcome:

In total over 2,500 man hours were used to complete this commission. Stadium Support Services was keen to accept the challenge and proud to once again have met and exceeded all expectations with the job finishing on budget and ahead of schedule.

Enhancing the World Cup fan experience

As Twickenham Stadium played host to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the need for the venue to be operating at its best had never been more important. In the lead up to the tournament, Stadium Support Services was on hand to carry them home…

The Challenge:

Since 1910, Twickenham Stadium has been home to international and national rugby fixtures, and as expected, requires regular upkeep and maintenance. Specifically, in 2015, in the lead up to the Rugby World Cup, Twickenham Stadium required extensive attention to the roof, with fans sadly prone to getting wet, regardless of whether they were outside, queuing to buy food and beverages or even in the corporate boxes.

The Solution:

With a tight two-month turnaround, and a strict deadline before Twickers once again opened its doors to rugby fans from around the world, Stadium Support Services carried out roofing repairs to this iconic stadium without compromising on quality and timeliness.

The Outcome:

With Stadium Support services there to ‘carry them home’, the project was completed on time and on budget ensuring the best fan experience in a safe and secure environment for the RWC and beyond.
