Case Study

QPR Media Centre

Stadium Support Services transform Loftus Road office space into multi-purpose media centre.

Stadium Support Services were commissioned by QPR in partnership with Head of Operations, Joshua Scott, to transform a general office space with huge potential.

Ambitious plans to turn the third-floor offices into a dedicated media centre at The Loftus Road stadium were mutually agreed upon, and concept drawings were subsequently created by the client.

Developed to accommodate journalists for match day reporting, the area features a raised dual interview platform and media assembly point. The project also included a complete renovation of the surrounding rooms.

  • C-Suite Executive offices
  • Meeting rooms
  • Media hot desk banks
  • Full LED lighting upgrade and installation
  • Fire doors
  • W/C conversions
  • Kitchen
  • Carpet
  • Air conditioning systems
  • Decorate throughout

Challenge

An exciting transformational project became a more challenging proposition due to the limited timeframe in which to complete the work.

Home games were subject to a short break while the World Cup took place in Qatar, leaving a small window of opportunity to drive the development to completion.

Culminating in only 3 weeks to carry out the plans, the development required; precision planning from highly skilled teams, and the ability to pivot quickly to any design or operational changes resulting from the tight timeframe.

Solution

With multiple teams ready to deploy as soon as the space within Loftus Road was available for access, Stadium Support Services worked to rapidly strip out the existing layout and fixtures.

All elements of the build were timebound and resulted in the quick and efficient installation of each planned area. Multiple tradespeople overlapped to hit each daily objective, whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

Result

An impressive, premier league standard, multi-purpose media suite, with a creative lounge, press office, VIP speaker room, and AV equipment for dedicated media access.

A flexible and cross-functional space, the new centre also comprises breakout meeting rooms providing delegates with complete privacy for virtual or in-person meetings.

Stadium Support Services were exemplary in their approach to such a pivotal and important project for the QPR club. The new central media hub was developed to provide the very latest access to games, players, and news in real time.

The short window of opportunity to access the space while the World Cup played out in Qatar was challenging, and as always, the teams delivered an exceptional Media Centre in record time
